Is it Hot in Here, or is it Just Me?

Hormones.
What are they anyway?
Helpful body regulators--or annoying troublemakers and depressors?
Mighty proteins produced by the body to help it grow up straight and tall
or troublesome monthly monsters? Google "what are hormones" and you
will find as many as 25 different definitions, all stating somewhat
the same thing...that hormones regulate just about everything about the body, from growth, to metabolism, to puberty, to menopause.
(But none of the definitions match the ones most women use!)

So what's up with the monthly depression or cramps?
The hot flashes during 'that' time of life?
The feelings of craziness, nervousness, leg cramps,
or whatever else goes bonkers during these times?

There is so much conflicting information regarding this subject and so
many conflicting treatments by conflicting doctors that it's really hard to
know what to do. And now there are many reports of serious side effects
from hormone treatments, such as cancer, heart problems, and more.
So what to do?

The one bit of safe advice that you can't possibly go wrong to follow,
is to make sure you are as healthy as you can be--and eating right,
exercising, and following after Jesus by living and walking in the Spirit is
always a great place to start. Just 'right living' can solve so many of our
human problems. Doctors may sometimes be necessary but often we
can first help ourselves with prayer, following God's Word,
and a little common sense.

Getting through the day on two pots of coffee, diet bars, diet pop, and
maybe a couple of bites of a meal you made for everybody else dosn't
make great nutritional sense, does it? Now let's add to that, caring for 3
or 4 (or 9) children, cleaning, cooking, laundry, and little or no fresh air,
vigorous walking, or exercise, and a lack of sleep. Then, let's look at this
diet and lifestyle's effect on a person after 20 or 30 years;
menopause is starting, and still the same bad habits...
the hormones might tend to act a little crazy, wouldn't they?

It's probably safe to say that the body cannot manufacture
healthy proteins using coffee, pop, sugar, (or fake sugar), junk food,
and lack of sleep as building blocks.

So, if you find yourself saying, "It it hot in here, or is it just me?".
or, "I don't know...I just feel kind of jumpy, nervous; I can't sleep.",
maybe it's time to ask not what your body can do for you,
but what you can do for your body!
And then make some positive 'healthy-style' changes for yourself!
